Document Scanner handles business documents, account details, and transaction data to provide scanning, review, storage, billing, and reporting features.
Information we collect
We may collect account information, uploaded documents, extracted text, transaction details, usage events, billing status, and support messages you send us.
How we use it
We use this information to operate the app, process uploads, generate reports, maintain account access, support billing, troubleshoot issues, and improve reliability.
Document processing
Documents may be processed by OCR and extraction services to return structured data. Scan-Pap focuses on bookkeeping fields such as dates, vendors or payees, totals, tax, categories, tags, and report totals.
Chrome extension and Gmail data
Scan-Pap Inbox Capture runs only on Gmail and only when a user opens the extension and chooses to scan the currently open message. It reads the message subject, sender, received date, supported attachment names, and the PDF or image attachments the user selects. Selected data is transmitted over HTTPS to the user's Scan-Pap account solely to extract bookkeeping details and create records in Pending Review.
The extension does not scan the inbox in the background, read unrelated messages, collect browsing history, sell Gmail data, or use Gmail data for advertising. The connection token is stored in Chrome session storage and is cleared when Chrome closes. Imported documents and extracted fields are stored as part of the user's Scan-Pap account and are handled under the same account access and storage protections as documents uploaded directly to Scan-Pap.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Scan-Pap uses this information only to provide and maintain the user-requested Gmail attachment import feature. It is not transferred for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, or sale. Human access is prohibited except with the user's explicit consent for support, when necessary for security, to comply with applicable law, or when data is aggregated and anonymized for permitted internal operations.
Private details in documents
Names, addresses, account numbers, tax IDs, card numbers, phone numbers, emails, and similar private identifiers are not needed for ordinary report totals. When these values are detected in extracted text, the app masks them where supported by the workflow. Original uploaded documents may still contain private details, so they stay behind account access and private storage.
